One injured in elephant attack in Anwara



In Chittagong's Anwara Upazila, a wild elephant came down from the hills of Banshkhali in search of food, causing panic among the people from early morning on Thursday (August 19). The elephant came in search of food at dawn but caught the eye of the people after dawn.

The stray elephant lost its way and wandered in different villages of Barshat, Battali and Barumchara Unions of the upazila till 12 noon destroying crops. This spread panic and fear among the villagers. Abul Kashem, 55, a resident of Rangpur district, was also injured in the attack.

Ariful Islam, assistant inspector of police at Rangadia police outpost, said police were also working with the Forest Department's Elephant Response Team (ERT) to bring the elephant back to its habitat. The elephant was taken to Banshkhali forest around 12 noon with the cooperation and efforts of everyone.
